This indie tarot reimagines the classic Rider-Waite Smith system through the lens of feminine strength: every archetype is portrayed by women from diverse backgrounds, drawn in a soft, dreamlike style with touches of anime and mythology. The deck was designed by YOU & Raven of X-Cat Studio in collaboration with Vermilion Collection, launched via Kickstarter in spring 2025, and followed quickly by a second print run.

Tarot has a long tradition of kings, knights, and emperors. This deck takes a different position. She's Wilderness Tarot places women at the centre of every archetype, not as supporting figures but as the ones who shape what happens.
It is an indie release from Vermilion Collection and X-Cat Studio, designed by the duo YOU & Raven. The deck launched on Kickstarter in spring 2025 and sold well enough that a second printing followed: the Deluxe 2.0 edition, now the borderless version available today.
The style is soft and dreamlike, with light influences from anime and mythology. Colours are warm without being loud. The figures represent women from a range of backgrounds and cultures, giving the imagery a broader reach than many traditional decks.
The set contains 78 cards plus one bonus card: the Wilderness card. Cards measure 70 x 120 mm and are printed on 330 gsm black core stock with a matte soft-touch finish. The edges are sprayed deep red, with subtle gold foil details on the cards themselves. The packaging is a sturdy book-style box with magnetic closure, also finished with gold foil.
The included English-language guidebook covers the Major Arcana with card imagery analysis. For the Minor Arcana it stays concise, offering upright and reversed keywords without extended commentary. Readers already familiar with the RWS system will find that sufficient. Those new to tarot will want to bring some basic knowledge of that system along.
On Reddit and in tarot forums, this deck comes up repeatedly for its production quality. The thick cardstock and matte finish receive consistent praise, and the red edges give the deck a distinctive look. What is the difference between the first edition and the Deluxe 2.0?
The Deluxe 2.0 is the borderless version. The first edition had a frame around each card; in the Deluxe 2.0 the illustrations run to the edge of the card. Many readers consider this an improvement, as the artwork takes up the full card surface.
Is there a smaller version available?
Yes, a Portable Edition exists at 56 x 96 mm. It is noticeably more compact than the standard Deluxe edition at 70 x 120 mm, and is frequently recommended in tarot communities for those who prefer a smaller card size.
