This oracle is built around the concept of grandmother energy: emotional maturity, compassion, and a grounded wisdom that transcends age or gender. Kara Simons of Joyful Resonance designed 66 cards divided into six color-coded categories, ranging from Self-Love and Harmony to Destruction. Illustrator Amy Putney Peterson created the artwork, which draws on botanical, elemental, and animal imagery.
The six categories are color-coded, making it easy to see which realm a card belongs to even without the guidebook.

Grandmother energy is not an age group. That is the premise of this oracle: anyone can be a channel for emotional maturity, empathy, and grounded, nourishing wisdom. Kara Simons of Joyful Resonance built a complete system around this concept, featuring 66 cards divided into six color-coded categories.
The evocative illustrations are created by Amy Putney Peterson and blend botanical, elemental, and animal symbolism. The result is an oracle that stands apart from most decks on the market in both atmosphere and structure.
The 66 cards each belong to one of six categories: Self-Love, Harmony, Growth, Possibility, Service, and Destruction. The latter is not an ominous category, but rather represents breakdown and letting go as a natural part of a cycle. The color coding makes it easy to see which realm a card belongs to, even without opening the guidebook.
In addition to the 66 grandmother cards, the box includes 6 blank cards to personalize, a category overview card, and a double-sided spread card.
The 174-page guidebook is printed in full color. Kara Simons shares her personal background, explains how the system works, details the card messages, and offers suggested card layouts. This is a comprehensive guide that takes time to fully explore the system.
The category color coding also serves as an initial filter: draw a card, look at the color, and you already understand the theme before reading a single word.
Kara Simons is the creator of this oracle and founder of Joyful Resonance. She wrote the card messages and the guidebook, including a personal narrative about her journey with the project.
The artwork is by artist Amy Putney Peterson, who brought the botanical, elemental, and animal grandmothers to life with her delicate style. Both creators worked closely together to harmonize words and imagery.
What does the 'Destruction' category mean?
Destruction does not carry a negative meaning here; it represents breakdown and letting go as an essential part of life's cycles. It is one of the six categories in the deck, alongside Self-Love, Harmony, Growth, Possibility, and Service.
What language are the cards and guidebook in?
Both the cards and the guidebook are entirely in English.
