Dragons are a fixture in fantasy literature. In this oracle they are given an astrological layer. Paolo Barbieri has painted 33 dragons, each connected to a constellation or cosmic archetype. The result is a deck that works with symbolism from both mythology and astronomy.

Barbieri is an Italian illustrator known for his fantasy art. His work is marked by detailed textures, dramatic lighting and a sense of movement. For this deck he worked with writer Rachel Paul, who translated the images into short reflections in the guidebook.

What you see on the cards

The cards show dragons in different forms. Some float through starlit nights, others lie curled among rocks or stand central in a cosmic scene. The colours range from deep violets and blues to fiery orange and gold.

Each image is connected to a constellation such as Orion, Pegasus or Andromeda. That link is printed on the card itself. The guidebook explains how the constellation relates to the dragon archetype and what that means in a reading.

The cards are large: 90 by 125 millimetres. That format gives space to the details in the illustrations. The matte finish means the cards do not reflect under artificial light.
