Davide De Angelis spent more than seven years working directly with David Bowie on the visual world of the Outside and Earthling albums. This tarot deck grew out of that collaboration. The Remastered edition is a revised second version with a new card back design, adjusted card sizing to reveal artwork that was cropped in the original, and added design elements based on handwritten notes and sketches exchanged between De Angelis and Bowie during their work together.
The guidebook has been rewritten by Davide and Esther De Angelis and includes new insights and personal anecdotes about working with Bowie.

Davide De Angelis did not design this deck from a distance. He worked alongside David Bowie for more than seven years on the visual language of the Outside and Earthling albums, on art shows, books, and creative campaigns. The Starman Tarot Remastered comes directly out of that partnership. This is not a tribute deck made in hindsight.
This is the second, revised edition. Compared to the original, the card back has been redesigned, the card sizing adjusted to show peripheral artwork that was cropped before, and handwritten notes and sketches exchanged between De Angelis and Bowie have been added as design elements throughout. The guidebook has been fully rewritten by Davide and Esther De Angelis.
The imagery draws on sacred geometry, world mystery traditions, and what De Angelis calls sacred futurism. On the cards that translates into dense, layered images combining symbols from various traditions with a distinctly contemporary graphic sensibility. This is not a Rider-Waite-Smith deck with cosmetic changes. The visual language is fundamentally different.
The card format in this edition is larger than in the original, specifically to make visible artwork that was cut off in the first printing. That decision says something about how seriously this revision was approached.
The 200-page guidebook has been updated to reflect the changes in the cards. Davide and Esther De Angelis added new insights alongside anecdotes about the collaboration with Bowie. That makes the guidebook worth reading as a document about a creative partnership, not just as a reference for the cards.
