Irene Captijn designed this deck from a personal turning point. After a serious illness in 2020, she began learning to read Lenormand and then moved on to designing her own decks. The summer atmosphere here is not an arbitrary choice: it is a deliberate decision to build every reading on a foundation of warmth and lightness.

What you see on the cards

The imagery is warm and richly coloured. Summer runs through every card: sunlight, joyful scenes, a brightness that gives the classical Lenormand vocabulary a seasonal character. The 36 traditional cards are joined by an extra Lady and an extra Gentleman.

That addition is more practical than it sounds. In classical Lenormand readings, the Lady and Gentleman represent the person being read for. Having two versions of each gives more room to set up the spread accurately.

That is useful for beginners, and equally useful for anyone with some experience who wants to understand the system's background more fully. Irene Captijn became a Lenormand card reader after a serious illness in 2020. Once she had learned the system, she began designing her own Lenormand and tarot decks. Summer Serenade Lenormand is one of those decks.
