TanDoo - relationship therapy in 44 painted cards

Not every card set is a tarot or oracle deck. This is a therapeutic tool. TanDoo from OH Publishing is designed to make patterns in relationships visible, in therapy sessions but just as easily at the kitchen table.

The cards were developed by psychologist Ofra Ayalon, known for her work in trauma therapy and associative cards. The imagery comes from artist Marina Lukyanova, trained in St. Petersburg. Together they created 44 cards that cover the full cycle of a partnership: from infatuation and trust to jealousy, distance, pain and forgiveness.

What you see on the cards

The paintings are symbolic, not literal. An image can mean something different to one person than to another, and that is exactly the intention. The cards show emotions that are often difficult to put into words.

There is no text on the cards themselves. No keywords, no fixed meanings. The guidebook offers context, but it is up to you or your partner to say what you see. This makes the deck suitable for couples with different backgrounds, languages or frames of reference.

The colours are soft, the compositions open enough to leave room for interpretation. These are paintings you look at, not illustrations you immediately categorise.

How you work with them

TanDoo is widely used in relationship therapy. The therapist lays down a few cards and asks both partners what they see. This opens up the conversation without anyone having to say directly: 'This is what I feel.' The card says it for you.

You can also use the deck alone. Draw a card and see what it stirs up about your own relationship history or your hopes for a future partner. The questions that accompany the cards in the guidebook are reflective, not prescriptive.

The cards can be combined with other sets in the OH series, such as the OH Cards or Persona. If you already work with that system, TanDoo fits seamlessly.

Draw a card together with your partner and tell each other what you see without opening the guidebook. What you spontaneously notice often says more than a premeditated analysis.

About Ofra Ayalon and Marina Lukyanova

Dr. Ofra Ayalon is a psychologist with decades of experience in trauma processing and the use of associative cards in therapy. She has worked on multiple projects with OH Publishing.

Marina Lukyanova studied at the art academy in St. Petersburg and works extensively with nature themes. For TanDoo she chose an imagery that combines symbolism from nature with human interaction.

Questions we often get

Are these tarot cards or oracle cards?
Neither. TanDoo is a set of associative cards without fixed meanings. You use them to spark conversation and reflection, not to predict the future or get answers.

Do I need to be a therapist to work with these cards?
No. The guidebook is clear enough for anyone interested in relationships and self-reflection. Many couples use the cards at home. The deck is popular with professionals in coaching and therapy as well.
