AE Waite Premium Pocket - Spanish pocket edition of the 1909 original
Hundreds of tarot decks have been published since 1909, but almost all of them build on this one. The Rider-Waite deck established the visual language that still dominates tarot today: figurative scenes across all 78 cards, including the minor arcana. This pocket edition reproduces the original colours and the distinctive brown back of the first print run.
This is the Spanish-language version, published by AGM AGMüller. The 96-page guidebook is written by Rachel Pollack and Johannes Fiebig, two of the most widely read tarot authors, entirely in Spanish.
What sets this apart from other Rider-Waite editions
The format is compact: 57 x 89 mm. That is smaller than a standard tarot card and makes the deck easy to carry. The brown pebble back is a deliberate reproduction of the very first 1909 print, not the later versions with different colours or backs that appeared in the decades that followed.
Those familiar with the history of this deck know that the colours in later reprints sometimes shifted. This edition goes back to the source.
The guidebook by Pollack and Fiebig
The 96 pages are written by Rachel Pollack and Johannes Fiebig. Pollack wrote '78 Degrees of Wisdom', which has been a standard reference for decades. Fiebig is known for his work with AGM AGMüller. Together they provide detailed instructions that are immediately usable, in Spanish.
About Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith
The cards were drawn in 1909 by Pamela Colman Smith, under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite. Smith studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and joined the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn around 1903. Waite was an occultist, prolific writer and Grand Master of the same order.
Together they created the deck that forms the basis of almost all tarot imagery developed since. Pamela Colman Smith was long uncredited as a maker; her name does not appear on early editions. Modern reprints, including this one, list her explicitly as co-author alongside Waite.

Questions we often get
Is this deck usable if you do not speak Spanish?
The guidebook is entirely in Spanish. The cards themselves carry no text, so the imagery works in any language. Consulting the guidebook does require knowledge of Spanish.
How does this edition differ from a standard Rider-Waite deck?
This is a pocket format (57 x 89 mm) with the original colours and brown back of the first 1909 print run. Many later editions use different colour versions or backs. This edition also includes a Spanish-language guidebook by Pollack and Fiebig, which is not part of most standard editions.
