Not every tarot deck aims for realism or traditional symbolism. This one chooses abstraction, colour and simplicity. Spanish artist Aitor Saraiba has translated the 78 classic tarot cards into a visual language built on planes, lines and vivid blocks of colour.
The Tarot de Luz is published by Fournier, a Spanish printing house with over a century and a half of experience. The cards are printed on sturdy cardstock with a matte plastic coating. The format is compact: 64 x 114 mm, slightly narrower than many other tarot decks.
The imagery is abstract, with sharp colour transitions and geometric shapes. Where traditional tarot cards often show detailed scenes, Saraiba opts for planes, silhouettes and clear contrasting colours. Red, yellow, blue and green dominate.
The Major Arcana are directly recognisable by their numbering and classic names. The Minor Arcana follow the standard structure with four suits: wands, cups, swords and pentacles. The illustrations are not narrative, but they are clearly linked to the traditional meanings of each card.
The compact format and coating make the cards smooth to handle. They shuffle well and remain sturdy even with daily use. The matte finish prevents fingerprints and gives the cards a calm appearance, despite the bright colours.
The guidebook is multilingual and contains short descriptions for each card. The texts are based on the classic tarot structure, but leave room for personal interpretation. There are no extensive spreads included.

Yes. It contains 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana, divided into four suits. The numbering and names are traditional. Only the imagery is abstract.

The guidebook gives short descriptions for each card and starting points for interpretation. If you have never worked with tarot before, an additional basic book is helpful.
