Tarot Illuminati
The Tarot Illuminati by Kim Huggens and Erik C. Dunne follows the Rider-Waite structure, but the execution is entirely different: digital painting, cinematic lighting, and saturated colours like gold, deep red and royal blue. Every card directs your eye toward the central theme through light and contrast.

Product information
Tarot Illuminati - cinematic digital art on a Rider-Waite foundation
Most tarot cards are painted, drawn or rendered in watercolour. The Tarot Illuminati looks as if the images were pulled frame by frame from a film. Sharp, glossy, with a use of light that immediately draws your eye to the heart of each card.
The deck is the work of writer Kim Huggens and digital artist Erik C. Dunne, published by Lo Scarabeo. The foundation is the classical Rider-Waite structure: the same sequence, the same symbolism, the same 78 cards divided into Major and Minor Arcana. What differs is everything you see.
What you see on the cards
Every card shows a scene with figures, objects and symbols that go directly back to the traditional tarot system. The digital painting technique gives the images a sharpness you do not find in watercolour or line-drawn decks. There is a lot of detail, but it stays readable.
The colours are intense: gold, deep red, royal blue. Where other decks use pastels or earth tones, this deck chooses fully saturated hues. The glossy coating reinforces that effect. In bright light, the cards catch reflections in a way that is hard to ignore.
Light is a recurring structural element. On most cards, the brightest point also marks the central theme. That gives the deck a strong visual logic, and a character quite unlike a classic RWS deck or a watercolour-based one.
How this deck stands apart
The digital art style is the biggest departure from other tarot decks. No watercolour, no pencil work, no vintage printing. Instead you get a tight, almost hyperrealistic image that feels closer to a film poster than to a classical tarot card.
That makes the deck outspoken. Some people value exactly that clarity and dramatic quality. Others find it too much. It is not a neutral background: the cards demand attention.
During a reading, notice where the light falls on the card. That often gives the first opening for interpretation.
About Kim Huggens and Erik C. Dunne
Kim Huggens writes about tarot and has several books and decks to her name. Her work focuses on symbolism, structure and how to use those in readings. For this deck she provided the conceptual foundation.
Erik C. Dunne is the artist behind the images. His style is digital, cinematic and built around drama. He translated Huggens' concepts into the sharp, colourful cards that form the deck.

Questions we often get
Does this deck follow Rider-Waite meanings?
Yes. The structure, sequence and symbolism correspond with the classical Rider-Waite system. The difference lies in the visual execution, not in the meaning of the cards.
Is the glossy finish suitable for daily use?
That depends on your preference. The coating protects the cards against wear and stains, but the surface does reflect light. In bright conditions that can be distracting during a reading.
