The Crystal Oracle - stones as archetypal mirrors
Crystals and minerals often stand for something larger than their chemical composition. This deck uses that tradition and translates it into images that function as gateways to inner work.
The Crystal Oracle consists of 44 cards and a guidebook. The imagery is built from antique illustrations connected through collage techniques. Bethany van Rijswijk created the cards, Ellen Freeman wrote the texts. Together they designed an oracle in which geology and intuition meet.
What you see on the cards
The cards contain engravings, botanical drawings and anatomical images from old books. Those images are layered and combined with crystal formations, creating an aesthetic that feels both old and contemporary.
Each crystal represents an archetype or a process. The guidebook provides context and describes what the stone symbolizes, but the images invite you to look first. The collages are dense enough to reveal multiple layers upon repeated viewing.
How you work with it
This deck lends itself to reflection, ritual and meditation. The cards are large enough to display as a focus during practice. Many people pull one card and leave it visible for a day or longer.
The symbolism is not fixed to one meaning. The guidebook offers starting points, but how a stone relates to your situation is up to you. This makes the deck suitable for people who already have some experience with oracle or tarot cards and who are looking for space for personal interpretation.
Place a card somewhere you see it regularly. Look at the image a few times a day and notice which details stay with you.

Questions we often get
Do I need to know anything about crystals to use this deck?
No. The cards work as archetypes and the guidebook provides context. Knowledge of mineralogy or crystal healing is not required.
How does this differ from a tarot deck?
This is an oracle without fixed structure. There are no major or minor arcana, no wands or swords. Each card stands on its own and asks for free interpretation.
