The Southern Botanic Oracle - 45 plants from the American Southeast
Not every plant grows everywhere. This oracle deliberately limits itself to the flora of one region: the southeastern United States. Magnolia, cotton, tobacco, sassafras. Plants intertwined with the history, folklore and stories of that landscape.
Stacey Williams-Ng hand-painted all 45 cards. Her background as an artist from Memphis, Tennessee, resonates in the imagery. The cards show not only botanical details but also the cultural meaning a plant can carry in the South.
What you see on the cards
Each illustration shows a single species. It might be a flower, a tree, a shrub or an herb. The style is naturalistic but not scientific. Colours are saturated, sometimes almost decorative.
The cards have a matte finish and feel light in the hand. The size is compact: 89 x 127 mm. The packaging is a two-piece hard box, sturdy enough for daily use.
How the symbolism works
The included guidebook describes the traditional associations and symbolic weight of each plant within Southern folklore. Some plants are linked to protection, others to growth, healing or transformation.
This is not a tarot with a fixed structure. You draw a card, read what the plant carries, and let that resonate with your question or situation. The meanings are not strict rules, but starting points.
Draw one card in the morning and read the description aloud. Notice during the day whether the plant presents itself somehow, literally or figuratively.
