The Tarot of the New Vision SET - 78 cards that flip the Rider-Waite 180 degrees
Most tarot cards show a scene from the front. This deck shows exactly what happens on the other side. You stand behind the figures, look over their shoulders, see what takes place outside the original frame.
It is not a new system. The meanings stay true to the classic Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. What changes is the amount of information you get. Landscapes become complete, secondary figures appear, objects gain spatial context.
What you see on the cards
Gianluca and Raul Cestaro redrew each card from the reverse perspective. Their style stays close to Pamela Colman Smith, but the expansion is entirely their own. What used to fall outside the frame is now visible.
The Fool, for example, no longer stands on the edge of a cliff with only sky behind him. You now see where he came from, what unfolds on the other side of that edge, who or what might be watching him. That kind of detail gives each card more story.
The cardstock is sturdy, the cards have a smooth finish. The size is standard tarot: 66 x 120 mm. The guidebook is multilingual and contains brief notes on the concept and the expanded scenes.
How you work with it
This deck works well if you are already familiar with the Rider-Waite. The extra imagery gives you more points of reference for reading a card. Sometimes it confirms what you already knew, sometimes it adds nuance.
Many people use this deck alongside their standard Rider-Waite to view the same question from two angles. You can also work solely with the New Vision. The core meanings hold.
Draw both versions of the same card side by side. Notice what the New Vision adds: who stands in the background, what space opens up, what you see that was hidden before.
About Pietro Alligo and the creators

Questions we often get
Do the card meanings change because of the different perspective?
The core meanings remain the same as the classic Rider-Waite. What changes is the context. The extra details can enrich your interpretation, but the foundation stays intact.
Do I need to know the Rider-Waite already to work with this deck?
It helps. This deck is made as an expansion of the Rider-Waite tradition. If you do not know those images yet, you miss the tension between what was visible before and what is added now.
