Urban Tarot – Where Magic Meets Metropolis
The Urban Tarot, designed by artist Robin Scott, is a powerful and modern deck that embraces city life in all its beauty, grit, and profound meaning. This unique set of 78 cards offers a contemporary interpretation of classic tarot archetypes, viewing the modern landscape and its inhabitants as the backdrop for spiritual growth, self-reflection, and magic in the everyday. It is a loving tribute to the metropolis and the diverse humanity that thrives within it.
About this Deck
The essence of the Urban Tarot lies in its ability to find the sacred within the mundane. The artwork is sharp, stylish, and cinematic, bringing each card to life like a scene from a contemporary graphic novel. From subway rides and street musicians to activists and businesspeople, these cards reflect the pulse of the 21st century. It is an ideal deck for those who seek a spiritual tool that speaks the language of their current environment, bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and the concrete jungle.
Symbolism and Themes
While the deck is deeply rooted in modern life, it is structurally based on the Thoth tarot system. It combines ancient archetypal energies with contemporary themes such as social justice, diversity, technology, and the shared experience of urban living. The symbolism is rich and layered, using the architecture and social structures of the city to explain the complex psychological and spiritual states of the human condition. The colors and compositions are designed to be evocative, making the cards feel immediate and intensely relatable.
The Creators
Robin Scott
Robin Scott is a talented artist, writer, and spiritual researcher. She spent years meticulously crafting the Urban Tarot to reflect her love for cities, people, and the hidden magic found in metropolitan corners. By combining her artistic skill with a deep understanding of tarot history, she has given a contemporary voice to an ancient tradition.
Practical Use
The Urban Tarot is suitable for daily card draws, in-depth consultations, and visual meditation. Because the images are so recognizable and modern, many users find it easier to form an intuitive connection with the cards compared to more traditional, medieval-themed decks. The set includes an 84-page guidebook where Robin Scott shares the personal inspiration and stories behind each card.
"To get the most out of this deck, try 'Urban Observation': carry a card with you into the city and look for its energy in the people, buildings, and situations you encounter during your day."

Expert FAQ
Is the Urban Tarot suitable for beginners?
Yes. Although it is based on the Thoth system—which is often considered more complex than the Rider-Waite-Smith system—the modern imagery makes the meanings very accessible. The guidebook provides clear explanations, making it a great choice for those who feel more connected to urban life than pastoral scenes.
What makes the Thoth influence in this deck special?
The Thoth system focuses heavily on elemental and astrological correspondences. In the Urban Tarot, these deep esoteric concepts are translated into modern visuals, allowing for a reading experience that is both intellectually stimulating and intuitively grounded.
Is the deck durable for professional use?
Absolutely. The cards are printed on high-quality, sturdy cardstock with a smooth finish, designed to withstand frequent shuffling. The set also comes in a luxury box, making it easy to transport for readings on the go.
