Triple Goddess Tarot - the cycle of Maiden, Mother and Crone
Not every tarot deck takes the feminine cycle as its starting point. This one does. The Triple Goddess Tarot by Jaymi Elford and Franco Rivolli is built around the three archetypes of the goddess: the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. Each stage represents a phase of growth, from beginning to return.
The Fool takes a particular place here. He is not the seeker, but the witness. He observes the goddess's journey through her different forms. That gives the cards a different perspective than you are used to in a classic deck.
What you see on the cards
Franco Rivolli draws in a soft, expressive style. Lots of pastel, lots of space around the figures. The women on the cards carry attributes that belong to their phase: flowers and new moons with the Maiden, fertility and full moons with the Mother, wisdom and waning moons with the Crone.
The cards have no titles. The colours and images tell you what the card does. That makes the deck intuitive, but also asks you to use the guidebook to learn the structure.
How this deck works with the moon
The moon phases run through the entire deck. Each phase corresponds with a stage of the goddess. New moon belongs to the Maiden, full moon to the Mother, waning moon to the Crone. That makes this deck suitable for those who work consciously with the moon and draw cards at specific moments in the cycle.
Draw a card at each moon phase transition and see which aspect of the goddess asks for attention at that moment.
