Uno with the Sun Tarot - crow as sun-bearer, built on RWS
Most tarot cards place a human or mythological figure at the centre. This deck chooses a crow. Not arbitrarily: Uno is drawn from the Chinese myth of the Golden Crow that carries the sun, and the cards follow him as he moves back and forth between a dream world and reality.
The deck is created by SENGIA Lite and published by Vermilion. The illustrations have a storybook quality, combining soft pastel tones with painterly textures. It reads like a modern illustrated tale that stays firmly grounded in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition.
What you see on the cards
Compositions and figures follow RWS structure closely, but the imagery is fully redrawn through Uno's perspective. Soft blues, yellows and earth tones dominate. The texture of the illustrations has something painterly about it, as if each card is a watercolour study that just dried.
The four suits are renamed after objects from Uno's mirrored realm: Wands become Igniters, Cups become Nectar, Swords become Arrows and Pentacles become Crests. English titles appear on the cards. Reviewers consistently describe the deck as cheerful and hopeful, even when drawing difficult cards.
Three editions, three choices
Vermilion releases this deck in three variants. The Luxe Radiant Edition uses 330 gsm black core paper, holographic gold edges and a book-style rigid box with magnetic closure, gold foil and embossing. The Daily Standard Edition features 350 gsm paper with a matte cardistry varnish and yellow edges that match the sun theme. The PVC Portable Edition is fully waterproof, slightly smaller (60 x 100 mm) and typically includes 3 bonus cards.
The Luxe Radiant Edition is the version that also includes the 'Daytime Glory' tarot cloth and a tarot pouch, alongside 78 cards and 2 bonus cards. That makes it the most complete package of the three.
The yellow edges on the Daily Standard Edition do not bleed with use, and the cards shuffle smoothly. Those who draw daily often choose this edition to keep the Luxe version in better condition.
The story behind the deck
SENGIA describes Uno as the 'ordinary crow that lives inside each of us'. The deck is dedicated to people who struggle to see their own worth. Uno is the metaphor for finding your inner sun: the idea that creativity and light do not come from outside but are already present.
That story colours the cards without forcing anything. You can use this deck as a straightforward tarot tool, with familiar RWS meanings as your foundation.

Questions we often get
Are the renamed suits (Igniters, Nectar, Arrows, Crests) hard to connect to standard tarot meanings?
No. The suits are renamed but the cards follow RWS compositions and figures closely. Anyone familiar with standard meanings will recognise them immediately. The new names add a layer of imagery rather than replacing the system.
What is the difference between the Luxe Radiant Edition and the Daily Standard Edition?
The Luxe Radiant Edition uses heavier black core paper (330 gsm), has holographic gold edges and a rigid magnetic box, and comes with the tarot cloth and pouch. The Daily Standard has 350 gsm paper with a matte cardistry layer, yellow edges and a simpler box. The tarot cloth and pouch are not included.
