Vision Quest Tarot Spanish - shamanic approach to classic tarot
Not every tarot deck treats the cards as symbols from a medieval tradition. This deck places the same 78 cards in a different context: that of the medicine wheel, the four directions and shamanic principles.
Gayan Sylvie Winter wrote the texts, Jo Dosé drew the cards. Their shared choice is clear: soft colours, natural symbolism and alternative names that sit closer to intuition than to the standard terms from the Rider-Waite tradition.
What is different about this deck
The structure remains intact. You still find 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana, divided over four suits. But the names have been adapted.
Where a traditional deck speaks of The Fool or The Magician, this deck opts for terms that refer to natural phases and processes. 'Beginning' and 'Transformation' are examples. That choice makes it easier to form an association with your own experience, without first having to work through a layer of symbolic knowledge.
The illustrations have a calm presence. The colours are muted, the lines clear. Totem animals and references to nature appear regularly. The whole feels organic, not theatrical.
How this deck behaves in practice
The cards are compact: 70 x 120 mm. That makes them easy to shuffle and suitable to take with you. The matte finish means they do not slip from your hands.
The guidebook is in Spanish, as is the text on the cards themselves. That makes this deck suitable for Spanish-speaking readers or for those who are fluent in the language and prefer to work in Spanish.
Draw a card and look at the image first before you read the name. The natural symbols often tell you enough already.

Questions we often get
Does this deck follow the standard Rider-Waite meanings?
The structure is the same, but the names and symbolism are different. If you are used to traditional names, you will need to adjust. The meanings remain recognisable.
Is knowledge of shamanism needed to work with this deck?
No. The cards are designed so that the images and names speak for themselves. The shamanic elements support the interpretation, but you do not need to be a specialist.
