The Visionary I Ching Cards by Paul O’Brian and Joan Larimore offer a transformative way to engage with the world’s oldest oracle. Traditionally accessed through complex rituals with yarrow stalks or coins, this deck brings the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching into a contemporary, visual format. It is designed to bridge the gap between ancient Eastern philosophy and the modern seeker’s need for intuitive clarity and psychological insight.
The "vibe" of this deck is one of serenity and profound depth. Instead of abstract lines, each card presents a dreamlike window into the Tao, making the wisdom of the I Ching accessible through evocative imagery. It invites you to step out of the chaotic "doing" of daily life and into a space of "being" and reflection.
The Visionary I Ching Cards serve as a bridge between the subconscious mind and the universal flow of life. The visual style is characterized by Joan Larimore’s expressive, soulful paintings that translate the mathematical precision of the hexagrams into fluid, symbolic art. Each card is a meditation in itself, designed to bypass the analytical mind and speak directly to your intuition.
Whether you are facing a major life transition or simply seeking a moment of peace, this deck acts as a mirror, reflecting the energetic patterns currently at play in your life. The accompanying 120-page guidebook provides Paul O’Brian’s expert interpretations, ensuring that the profound advice of the I Ching remains practical and grounded.
Rooted in the ancient Taoist system of the Book of Changes, the deck revolves around the themes of harmony, balance, and natural timing. The 64 cards represent the 64 hexagrams, which encapsulate every possible human situation and the cosmic forces governing them. The primary theme is the "Tao"—the path of least resistance and greatest alignment.
By focusing on the interplay between Yin (receptive) and Yang (active) energies, the deck teaches us how to navigate change with grace. The symbolism is not just about predicting the future, but about understanding the present moment so deeply that the right course of action becomes clear.

Joan Larimore
Joan Larimore was a visionary artist whose work is celebrated for its emotional depth and symbolic richness. Her paintings for this deck were created with the intention of capturing the essence of each hexagram, turning abstract philosophical concepts into vibrant, living images that resonate on a subconscious level.
To use this deck, find a quiet moment and hold a specific situation or question in your mind. Instead of asking "yes" or "no" questions, try asking "What energy should I align with right now?" or "What is the nature of this situation?". Draw a card and spend a few moments looking at the imagery before reading the interpretation in the guidebook. The deck is an excellent companion for morning meditations or end-of-day reflections.
“Before looking up the meaning in the book, let your eyes wander over the artwork. Notice which colors or shapes stand out to you—often, the visual symbolism will trigger a personal insight that the text alone cannot provide.”
Do I need to have studied the I Ching to use these cards?
Not at all. While the I Ching is a complex system, this deck is specifically designed to be intuitive. The guidebook translates the traditional language into modern concepts that are easy to understand for beginners, while still providing depth for experienced practitioners.
How does this deck differ from a traditional Tarot deck?
While Tarot often tells a story through archetypes and suits, the I Ching is focused on the "flow" of energy and the cycles of change. The Visionary I Ching is more about understanding the timing and the nature of the situation you are in, rather than external characters or events.
Can I use these cards for daily inspiration?
Absolutely. Many users draw one card every morning to see which "hexagram" or energy is presiding over their day. It is a wonderful way to practice mindfulness and stay conscious of your reactions to the world around you.
What is the best way to care for this deck?
Because the artwork is so expressive, we recommend keeping the cards in their original box when not in use to protect the edges. You may also want to "clear" the energy of the deck between uses by knocking on the pile or placing a piece of clear quartz on top of it.

A study deck for those who view tarot as a mystical tool for transformation.
Faunabelle Tarot is the first tarot deck built specifically for children, though its warm imagery and accessible meanings also work well for adults who want a gentler approach to reading. The 22 Major Arcana are illustrated as animal ambassadors, while the Minor Arcana follows a dog, a goldfish, a cockatiel and a tortoise through stories of joy, love, mindfulness and values. Nicola Allan and Juanita Benedicto created this deck together in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
The guidebook covers both upright and reversed meanings in language that children from age 3 and beginners can follow without difficulty.
A reconstruction of the rare Mystic Cards of Fortune from 1882. Robert M. Place brought this historical Lenormand deck back with the refined linework and 19th-century aesthetic of the original. The matte, cream-coloured cards feel like an archaeological find.
A collector’s piece that is also practical for daily readings.
