Visionary Path Tarot - black-and-white tarot with psychedelic imagery
Black-and-white tarot is rare. Rarer still is a deck that uses black and white as a tool for concentration. The Visionary Path Tarot by Lucy Delics sets colour aside and fills the space with patterns, lines and symbols that you do not take in all at once.
This is not a deck for a quick daily draw. The illustrations are dense and complex. Each card holds geometric shapes, repeating patterns and symbols from different spiritual traditions. It asks for time and attention.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is steeped in shamanic influences, especially from the tradition of plant medicine. Lucy Delics drew these cards during and after her time in the Peruvian Andes. That is not background detail. You see it reflected in the form of the images.
The cards follow the structure of a classic tarot deck: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. But the execution is far from classic. Where a traditional deck often uses colour to indicate emotions or elements, here you work with form and rhythm.
The format is generous: 105 x 140 mm. That gives the detailed line drawings the space they need. The cardstock is heavy and printed matte.
Who this deck works for
This is not a starter deck. The absence of colour and the complexity of the symbols make it difficult if you are just beginning with tarot. There are no direct visual cues like you find in a Rider-Waite-Smith deck.
Advanced readers looking for a meditation tool will find what they are looking for. The repeating patterns in the illustrations work as a focal point. Draw a card, lay it in front of you and see what happens when you keep looking at it for a few minutes.
Do not use this deck for quick answers. Use it when you have time to really sit with what a card shows.
What the guidebook contains
The included booklet runs to 32 pages. It describes how Lucy Delics translated the archetypes into her own visual language, and gives brief interpretations for each card, both upright and reversed.
There is also a description of her background and how her experiences with plant medicines shaped the symbolism of the deck. No esoteric treatises, just context that helps you understand where the images come from.
About Lucy Delics
Lucy Delics is a self-taught artist from the United Kingdom. She lived for several years in the Peruvian Andes, where she came into contact with shamanic traditions and plant medicines. Those experiences formed the basis for her work.
For Delics, drawing is a spiritual practice. Her style is labour-intensive and precise, with emphasis on symmetry, repetition and symbolic charge.

Questions we often get
Why black and white and not in colour?
The absence of colour forces you to look at form and symbol instead of emotional colour associations. That makes the experience more direct and intimate, but also more intense.
Can I use this deck if I have never worked with tarot before?
You can, but it is not ideal. The imagery is abstract and asks for experience with tarot structure. If you are just starting, choose a deck with clear, colourful scenes first.
