Schatgravers - 227 cards for confidence and connection
Not every card game is about predicting or philosophising. This one points you to qualities that are already there, but that you may not name every day. Schatgravers was developed by two child coaches and focuses on recognising and valuing personal strengths.
The game consists of two types of cards: treasure cards that name traits (such as 'creative', 'brave', 'honest') and task cards that give active prompts. Those prompts are sometimes playful, sometimes reflective. The aim is for players to get to know each other better and see themselves in a positive light.
What you see on the cards
The illustrations are colourful and accessible. No abstract symbolism, but clear images that connect directly to the trait or task on the card. The format is compact enough to carry, large enough to shuffle and share comfortably.
Each treasure card shows one quality. The task cards contain short, clear prompts that range from a question to another player to a small action you carry out on the spot. The tone is warm, not patronising.
How you work with it
The game is designed for groups, but also works one-on-one or even alone. Many coaches use the treasure cards as a starting point for conversation. Families play it at the table. Teachers use it to help pupils give each other compliments in a way that does not feel forced.
You can invent your own rules, but the included game rules offer enough structure to start straight away. You set the pace: play quickly or linger over a single card.
Draw a treasure card in the morning and carry that quality consciously through the day. Or give someone a card that suits them and explain why.
About Greetje Welten and Matty van de Rijzen
Both creators work as child coaches and developed Schatgravers from their practice. They saw that children (and adults) benefit from concrete language for what they do well. The game is their answer to the question of how you can build confidence without slipping into abstractions.

Questions we often get
What is the difference between treasure cards and task cards?
Treasure cards name traits such as 'strong', 'cheerful' or 'helpful'. Task cards give prompts, ranging from a question to a fellow player to an action you carry out. Together they create variation in the game.
Is this game also suitable for adults?
Yes. The illustrations are light in tone, but the themes are universal. Many therapists and coaches use the deck in their work with adults. It works well in team building and group conversations.
