Way of the Panda Tarot - Wonder Edition - full RWS structure with five extra cards
Not every deck dares to replace archetypal figures with cuddly animals. This one does, and it works. The Way of the Panda Tarot follows the proven Rider-Waite structure, but replaces every human figure with a panda in the same pose, holding the same attributes.
The result is approachable without being shallow. The pandas wield wands, cups and pentacles, sit on thrones, fall from towers and hang upside down. The humour is in the imagery, not in the system.
What you see on the cards
Kristyna Baczynski's watercolour illustrations are light and airy. Every figure stands on a plain white background, which draws attention to the interaction between the pandas. No cluttered landscapes, no complex decoration. Just the essence of the tarot scene.
The bamboo-green borders give the deck a recognisable accent. The backs have a matte black design with a glossy logo in SPOT-UV. All cards are printed on sturdy 350 gsm cardstock and finished with matte UV coating, which makes them comfortable to shuffle.
This Wonder Edition contains five bonus cards alongside the standard 78. The guidebook explains how you can use them, but they are not a compulsory part of a spread.
How the guidebook is structured
The 96-page guide is written for both new and experienced readers. Each card description contains a straightforward interpretation and a so-called 'shadow attribute', a less obvious meaning you can consult for reversals or deeper work.
There are nine spreads designed specifically for this deck, each with a theme that matches the panda perspective: playfulness, self-care, rest. No strict rules, just suggestions you can adapt as you see fit.
Draw a card before bed and place it face down beside you. Turn it over the next morning and notice what stays with you.
Who this works for
This deck is designed for beginners. The images are direct, the guidebook is clear and the symbolism stays close to the classic Rider-Waite. At the same time it is solid enough to work with daily if you already have experience. The gentle tone makes heavier cards less intimidating.
The 70 x 120 mm format is standard tarot. The cards sit comfortably in an average hand, but are not so small that you miss details.
