Way of the Panda Tarot: Baby Panda Edition - watercolour tarot in pocket size with named panda characters

Some small tarot cards are just smaller. This one is its own thing. The Baby Panda Edition comes in a cherry blossom pink box, includes an exclusive bonus card you will not find in the larger editions, and has bamboo green edges that stand out immediately in a collection.

The deck was designed by Kimberly M. Tsan under her label Fables Den, with illustrations by Celia Libelle. The watercolour style is soft and impressionistic: generous white space around each figure, expressive panda faces, and a colour palette that feels closer to a spring garden than a medieval tarot tradition.

What you see on the cards

Every character in this deck has a name and a personality. The Magician is Pandalf, working at his cauldron. Strength features Hercules and Mousey Valentine together, an unlikely pair that gives the classic imagery a warmer feeling. The four suits follow both elements and personality types: Wands pandas are curious and mischievous, Cups pandas are loving and cuddly, Swords pandas are witty and sometimes break the fourth wall, and Pentacles pandas are grounded and generous.

Celia Libelle's illustrations leave a lot of white space around the figures. That gives each card room to breathe and leaves space for intuitive reading. The style is recognisably soft without being vague: each panda archetype tells its own story clearly.

Size and quality

The cards measure 57 x 88 mm, a size that shuffles easily with one hand. The card stock weighs 350 gsm and has a smooth matte UV finish that prevents sticking. The edges are finished in a matte bamboo green, visible along the sides of the stacked deck.

The box is a sturdy magnetic closure with spot-UV details. The cherry blossom pink design marks this as the Baby Panda Edition, distinct from the other versions in the series.

The guidebook

There is no physical booklet in the box. The full guidebook is available digitally. If you prefer a printed reference alongside your cards, that is worth knowing before you order.

The 79th card, the 'Fairy Godpanda', is exclusive to this edition and does not appear in the larger versions of this deck. It is the only way to get her.

About Kimberly M. Tsan and Celia Libelle

Kimberly M. Tsan created the entire Panda universe: the names, the suit personalities, the relationship between panda energy and tarot symbolism. She works as a deck designer and tarot reader under the Fables Den label, a platform built around helping people read their own life story through creative tools. The deck started as a Kickstarter project and grew into one of the better-known playful tarot decks in the community.

Celia Libelle produced all the illustrations. Her watercolour technique gives the pandas their soft, expressive faces and the dreamy atmosphere that defines the deck. The combination of Tsan's structure and Libelle's imagery is what gives these cards their distinct character.
