Carolyn Hillyer worked on it for thirty years. You see that in the images: not polished illustrations, but drawings that look as if they have been pulled from the earth. Each archetype carries a story that does not close neatly.

What you see on the cards

The 52 cards show figures who are keeper, weaver, wild woman or wise one. No soft pastels, no reassuring faces. The lines are strong, the compositions sometimes uncomfortable.

The cards are printed on heavy art cardstock with a silky finish. The format is 148 x 105 mm, large enough to see the details. The luxury storage box contains a fabric pouch that holds the cards.

The guidebook is 140 pages and written in Slovak. The cards themselves are in English. This makes the edition suitable for those who read Slovak, or for those who let the images speak for themselves.

How this deck works

This is not a deck that gives you instructions. The archetypes ask questions, not answers. You draw a card and see what the figure calls up. That can be clear, that can be confronting.
