Angelarium: Oracle of the Fallen - fallen angels as mirrors of human shadow
Fallen angels are often described as malevolent or lost. In this oracle they are something else: beings who chose an existence outside divine light, and in doing so mirror the human experience of vulnerability and imperfection.
Peter Mohrbacher designed this deck as part of his Angelarium project, a personal mythology he has been building for years. The cards show the Watchers, celestial figures from ancient texts who once watched over humanity and later chose their own path. Each being stands for an emotional or existential state that is directly felt.
What you see on the cards
The imagery is cosmic and surreal. Figures float in deep spaces, composition and colour dominate over realism. Mohrbacher works with grand perspectives and symbolic elements that feel abstract but emotionally precise.
The cards have a matte finish that tempers the intensity of the colours and softens the details. The format is 89 x 127 mm, large enough to do justice to the art. The 96-page guidebook is full-colour and describes each being with background stories and practical interpretations.
How this deck works
The Watchers do not offer comforting messages. They show the value of what seems broken or imperfect. The deck lends itself to shadow work and introspection, especially if you are willing to look at your own dark sides without immediately trying to fix them.
The images are strong enough to work without text, but the guidebook provides context that makes a difference. Mohrbacher explains how each being fits into the larger story of his Angelarium universe, and how you can apply that symbolism to your own readings.
Draw a card before sleep and place it beside your bed. The images linger in your subconscious and may return in dreams.
