Not every oracle deck is meant to give you answers. These cards are designed as an activation tool. Each image represents a power site, a location considered an energetic node in esoteric tradition: Shambhala, Atlantis, Luxor, the crystal caves of Mexico.
Kyle Gray and Jennifer Hawkyard built this deck around the idea that by focusing on such a place, you can influence your own energy body. The cards are not tarot, not lenormand, not a standard oracle. They are portals in the literal sense: visualisations to meditate on.
Each card shows an artwork by Jennifer Hawkyard in bright colours and symbolic forms. The imagery is abstract and geometric, sometimes with figures or landscapes woven in. The card shows the name of the power site in German, with no further text.
The 176-page guidebook explains for each card what energetic function the site has, which chakra it corresponds to, and how you can use it in meditation or visualisation. Gray also describes which universal light beings or guides belong to certain portals. The tone is esoteric, aimed at lightworkers and people already familiar with energetic terminology.
There are no spreads. The approach is: draw a card, read the description, sit with it. The instructions revolve around intention, breath and visualisation.
This is not a beginner deck. You need some affinity with energy work, chakras or meditation to use the cards meaningfully. The texts assume you do not need terms like 'energy body', 'raising your vibration' and 'activating a portal' explained.
Those who meditate regularly or use visualisation techniques will recognise the cards as practical tools. Those looking mainly for daily inspiration or concrete answers to life questions will likely find this deck too abstract.
Place the card you have drawn in front of you during a meditation of ten to fifteen minutes. Look at the image, read the corresponding text before or after, and observe what happens in your body. This is a working deck, not a reading deck.
Kyle Gray is a Scottish spiritual teacher and writer who focuses on angels, energy and personal transformation. He regularly publishes decks and books through publishers such as Hay House and collaborates with various artists.
Jennifer Hawkyard is the illustrator behind several of his projects. Her style is bright and colourful, with lots of geometry and light effects. The images are digitally created and have a contemporary, almost holographic quality.
Do you need to read German to work with this deck?
Yes. The cards themselves contain only a name, but the guidebook is essential to understand how each portal works and which meditations belong to it. Without the book, the cards lose their function.
Can you use this deck like a standard oracle?
Technically yes, but that is not what it was designed for. The cards are meant as an activation tool, not as a question-and-answer system. You can draw a card to see which energy to work with today, but do not expect concrete messages or predictions.
