Eternal Bones Tarot - skulls as symbols of transformation and impermanence
Skulls in tarot are not decoration. They point to the temporary nature of life, to transformation, to letting go of what has been. This deck makes no secret of it.
Vera Petruk has drawn a skull illustration for each of the 78 cards that extends the symbolism of the card. The Major Arcana show skulls that carry, weigh, watch. The Minor Arcana translate the wands, swords, cups and pentacles into bone and pattern. It is not a morbid imagination, but a clear view of what was always in the cards: the cycle of becoming and passing.
What you see on the cards
The drawing style recalls classic woodcuts. Many lines, much detail, little colour. The skulls are not realistic anatomy, but symbolic forms that vary from card to card. Some wear flowers, others are covered with patterns or geometric shapes.
The cards are printed on 350 GSM cardstock. That is heavier than average and ensures they do not bend or fray easily. The format is standard: 70 x 120 mm, which shuffles well in most hands.
Who this deck works for
This deck assumes you are not afraid of the darker sides of tarot. It focuses on shadow work, transformation and the questions you would rather avoid. The images are direct. They do not invite, they confront.
The cards have no keywords or explanations. You must decipher the symbolism yourself or already have some experience with tarot. This is not a beginner deck.
Draw a card during a new moon and notice which pattern in the skull catches your eye first. That is often where the message lies.

Questions we often get
Does a guidebook come with this deck?
No. The cards are supplied without an accompanying booklet. The symbolism speaks for itself or requires your own research.
How heavy does this cardstock feel compared to a standard Rider-Waite deck?
Noticeably heavier. 350 GSM is sturdier than most tarot decks, which are around 300 GSM. The cards feel solid and bend less easily.
