Maléfique Lenormand - 36 Lenormand cards by Gniedmann
The Maléfique Lenormand is a 36-card Lenormand deck by Russian artist Gniedmann, published by U.S. Games Systems. It works with the traditional 36 Lenormand symbols and presents them in a dark, contemporary visual language.
The cards are horizontally oriented and printed on sturdy card stock with black gilded edges. Each card shows a number in the lower left and the symbol name in the lower right, followed by its corresponding playing card symbol.
What the cards look like
The illustrations range from black-and-white with grey and purple tones to darker colour palettes. The Ship card shows a three-masted ship on rough water in a watercolour-like style. Clouds depicts heavy storm clouds with lightning strikes in dark grey and pink-purple tones. Snake is painted in black and grey on a yellow-white background, showing an upright snake with open mouth. The backs of all cards are identical: a red background with a central decorative ornament showing a cat's eye with a vertical pupil, surrounded by floral shapes in green, yellow, pink and orange.
The box is white with black borders and a serif typeface. The cover shows a moon circle built from black and golden-yellow shapes, with a face incorporated and decorative elements resembling wings or leaf forms.
