Mystical Kipper - predictive cards with egg tempera imagery
Kipper systems are known for their direct answers. No layers of symbolism, no metaphors you first need to decode. The cards show what is and what is coming. The Mystical Kipper follows that line and translates it into a visual language that is warm and clear.
The deck is designed by Regula Elizabeth Fiechter and illustrated by Urban Trösch. Both collaborated earlier on the Mystical Lenormand. This time they focused on the Kipper system: 36 cards that concern themselves mainly with people, their relationships and their choices.
What you see on the cards
Urban Trösch works with egg tempera, an old painting technique that produces saturated colours and a warm luminosity. The images show recognisable situations: a conversation, a journey, financial worries, an unexpected meeting. No abstraction, but plenty of detail.
The figures on the cards look in a certain direction. That is not accidental. The direction of their gaze often tells you whether something lies behind you or is still coming towards you. It is a subtle but effective element in reading the cards.
The colour tone is warm, the atmosphere mystical without exaggeration. The deck has a timeless quality that could just as easily have emerged in 1920 as in 2025.
Where Kipper stands apart
Kipper and Lenormand are often mentioned together because both systems have 36 cards and come from Germany. But they work differently. Lenormand often uses objects as carriers of meaning: a key, a letter, a tree. Kipper focuses more on people and their mutual dynamics.
That is where the strength of this system lies. If you want to know how someone thinks about you, how a working relationship is developing, or what someone else's intentions are, then Kipper is a stronger tool than many other systems.
When laying out the cards, pay attention to who is looking at whom. That direction of gaze often tells you more than the card by itself.
How you work with it
Kipper lends itself to quick readings and extensive spreads. A three-card reading gives a direct answer to a concrete question. The Grand Tableau, a layout in which all 36 cards are used, gives a complete overview of your situation at this moment.
The guidebook contains basic interpretations for each card and explains a number of commonly used spreads. That is enough to get started. The rest you learn by doing.

Questions we often get
Is this deck suitable if you have never worked with Kipper before?
Yes. The images are clear enough to work with intuitively, and the guidebook gives enough support to learn the basic interpretations. You do not need prior knowledge.
What is the difference between Kipper and Lenormand?
Kipper focuses more on people and relationships, Lenormand works more often with objects as symbols. Both systems are predictive, but Kipper is more direct in reading human dynamics.
