Spiritual Tarot - channelled through mediumship and painted
This is not a deck that was designed at a drawing table. The images were received first, then painted. Medium Cristina Tarika di Maggio channelled the visions and passed them on to artist Lucia Mattioli, who translated them into 78 watercolour paintings.
It is a process you see reflected in the cards themselves. The scenes have something floating about them, as if they do not want to be entirely pinned down. That makes them useful for intuitive work, less so for anyone who wants strict symbols to follow.
What you see on the cards
Soft colours, dreamlike transitions, human figures in luminous scenes. The imagery leans more on atmosphere than on clear symbolism. Where a Rider-Waite card shows you exactly what is happening, this deck asks you to stay with it for a moment.
The cards do follow the classic structure: 22 major arcana, 56 minor arcana. But the emphasis is on the spiritual side of the experience, not on concrete situations. Even the wands and pentacles feel less earthbound than you may be used to.
How this deck works in practice
The guidebook contains 128 pages with card meanings and spreads. That makes it accessible for beginners, even though the themes are abstract. You can simply look up what is written and make your own connection from there.
Many people use this deck for meditation. The faces on the cards have a direct gaze that helps you focus. Pull a card, look at it, and let the rest be for a moment.
During meditation, focus on the gaze of a figure on the card. That directness helps you settle more quickly.
About Cristina Tarika di Maggio
Cristina Tarika di Maggio has worked as a spiritual coach for over twenty years. She teaches courses in self-realisation and is affiliated with the AMA (Accademia Metafisica Applicata) in Florence. Her strength lies in translating metaphysical experiences into workable insights.
For this deck, she channelled the visions, she did not paint them herself. Lucia Mattioli drew the cards based on those transmissions.

Questions we often get
Does this deck follow the Rider-Waite structure?
Yes, 78 cards with the classic division. But the imagery deviates strongly. Where Rider-Waite presents symbols, this deck paints atmospheres.
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes. The 128-page guidebook describes all the cards and contains spreads. The imagery is abstract, but you do not need experience to work with it.
