Tarot of Sexual Magic - erotic imagery in a traditional structure
This is not a deck for those who prefer tarot to stay neutral. The Tarot of Sexual Magic places intimacy, desire and physical energy at the centre of its visual language. The 78 cards follow the structure of a traditional tarot deck, but the illustrations show naked bodies, embraces and sensual scenes.
Mauro De Luca drew the deck, Laura Tuan wrote the accompanying texts. Lo Scarabeo published it as part of their collection of thematic tarot decks. It has been intended for an adult audience from the start.
What you see on the cards
The major arcana remain recognisable: The Fool, The High Priestess, The Hanged Man. But the imagery shifts toward the physical. Where a classic deck uses symbolism, De Luca chooses direct, human forms. Bodies touch, intertwine, keep distance.
The minor arcana show portraits and scenes where emotion and eroticism meet. Some cards are explicit, others suggestive. The colours are warm: lots of red, pink, gold and skin tones. The style is romantic-realist, with soft lines and subtle shadows.
The cards measure 66 x 120 mm, a standard tarot size. The cardstock is sturdy enough for regular shuffling. The back shows a symmetrical pattern in red and black.
How it relates to other Lo Scarabeo work
Lo Scarabeo often publishes thematic tarot decks, from angel decks to historical variants. This deck fits that line, but the erotic imagery makes it more direct than most other titles. It is not a symbolic play with hints at sexuality, but a deck that visually centres the subject.
The guidebook is multilingual and contains brief descriptions for each card. There are no extended meditations or in-depth texts, but practical meanings and hints for interpretation. Spreads are focused on love, relationships and mapping desires.
Draw one card as a daily card about how you relate to your own body or to intimacy. The imagery is direct enough to provoke an immediate response.
