The Cat Oracle - vintage collages with feline logic
Cats move through the world as if they know rules we cannot see. They sleep when it suits them, hunt when necessary, and ignore everything that does not feel right. This oracle translates that attitude into 33 cards.
Stephen Eichhorn composed each card from vintage photographs of cats, cut and layered into dreamlike compositions. Ellen Freeman wrote the texts: no cat sentiment, but observations about what a cat does and what you as a human can learn from it.
What you see on the cards
Collages of old cat photographs, sometimes a single cat sharp in frame, sometimes several layered through one another. The style is nostalgic but not sweet. Colours are muted, often sepia or faded pastel.
Each image shows an aspect of cat behaviour: a cat stretching, a cat staring blankly, a cat turning away. The guidebook links that behaviour to themes such as independence, patience, curiosity and timing.
How the texts work
The descriptions in the guidebook are short and direct. They often start with what a cat does and end with what that might mean for you. No elaborate philosophy, but enough to carry a card with you for a few days.
The register is light and accessible. This is not a heavily symbolic oracle. It works well as a daily draw or when you are stuck and need something to pull you out of your head.
Draw a card when you notice you are working too hard or planning too much. Cat energy forces you to rest first and act later.
Who this deck works for
This oracle asks no prior knowledge. The images speak directly and the texts are clear enough to start working with immediately. It suits people who like vintage aesthetics and humour in an oracle.
Many users place a card on their desk or bedside table as a visual reminder. The format and matte finish make the cards sturdy enough for daily use.

Questions we often get
What makes the collages different from regular illustrations?
Eichhorn cuts and pastes vintage cat photographs by hand into new compositions. That creates a nostalgic, layered look you do not see in drawn or digital decks. The texture and colours are authentic old material.
Are the card meanings easy to understand without prior knowledge?
Yes. The guidebook explains each card image in clear language, without requiring experience with oracles. The link between cat behaviour and human situations is direct enough to grasp immediately.
