The Everyday Enchantment Tarot - tarot with contemporary imagery
Most tarot decks place their figures outside time and place. Medieval clothing, classical symbolism, archetypes you have to translate to your own situation. This deck chooses a different path.
Poppy Palin drew people as you meet them in your own street. A child playing. Someone making a choice. A neighbour with her dog. The cards are not about abstract concepts, but about moments you recognise from your own week.
What you see on the cards
The drawing style is detailed and warm. The colours are vivid without becoming loud. Each card shows a scene in which you can recognise yourself or someone you know.
The symbolism follows the traditional structure of 78 cards, but translates the archetypes to the contemporary. The Empress is not a throned ruler, but a woman giving care in her own environment. The Magician is not a figure with magical attributes, but someone working with focus and intention.
That choice has an effect: the cards need less explanation. You see what is happening and understand it. The 176-page guidebook deepens the meanings, but the images work without constant reference.
How this deck works in practice
The large format (89 x 140 mm) shows the details well, but makes shuffling slightly more difficult for people with smaller hands. The matte coating feels pleasant and prevents the cards from sticking together.
The deck is designed for beginners. The images are clear enough to work with intuitively, without needing years of experience first. But even if you have been working with tarot for longer, the modern translation offers a fresh view on familiar themes.
Draw a card each morning and look for the scene in your own surroundings during the day. It trains your eye for what is already there.
About Poppy Palin
Poppy Palin (1966-2022) was a British artist and spiritual teacher who worked from what she called 'wild spirituality': a free, natural way of living in which spirituality is not separated from the everyday.
Her earlier work, Waking the Wild Spirit Tarot, was already being used worldwide. With The Everyday Enchantment Tarot she wrote and drew a deck that connects even more directly to life as people live it now. Her death in 2022 made this deck her last published work.

Questions we often get
How does this deck differ from a classic Rider-Waite deck?
The structure is the same: 78 cards, divided into major and minor arcana. The difference lies in the visual language. Where Rider-Waite works with medieval symbolism, this deck shows contemporary people in recognisable situations. That makes the translation to your own life more direct.
Is the guidebook extensive enough for someone just starting out?
Yes. The 176-page guidebook describes each card with background information and meanings. The illustrations are clear enough to work with even without the guidebook, but the text deepens what you see.
