The Flower Oracle - botanical collages by Van Rijswijk and Freeman
The Flower Oracle is a 43-card oracle deck created by collage artist Bethany van Rijswijk and writer Ellen Freeman. Van Rijswijk is known for her interest in old natural history illustrations and her way of bringing together the past and the imaginative in a poetic form. Freeman, an editor at Broccoli, wrote the card texts.
What the cards look like
Every card back is mint green with a repeating gold rosette pattern across the full surface. The fronts combine vintage botanical illustrations with collage techniques: the Lavender card shows a lavender plant with its roots in a layered landscape setting, while the Cherry Blossom card places white blossoms above a blue stretch of water. Each card carries the flower name and three keywords at the bottom - 'Evanescence - Joy - Beauty' for Cherry Blossom, 'Perfection - Love - Contradiction' for Rose. The card edges are plain white with no gilding.
The box is white and upright, with a botanical illustration of a pink and lilac flower with leaves and butterflies on the front.
