Authentic glass negatives from the late 19th century, reworked into surrealist collages in which human bodies and animal heads merge. That is the core of this oracle deck. The images are strange, dreamlike and historical at once.
Alexandra Eldridge works with photographic material from the period 1880-1920. She paints over the negatives and combines portraits with animal archetypes. The result feels timeless, somewhere between old and contemporary.
Each of the 44 cards shows a human-animal hybrid in sepia and earth tones. The photography is grainy, the details are fine. A woman with a fox head. A man with horns. A child with bird eyes.
