Oracle cards that start from art rather than tradition. The Art Deck by Nicolette van den Hadelkamp consists of 44 cards, each with an original painting and a single word. No elaborate meanings, no fixed symbols. The art lays the foundation, the word gives direction.

The deck is published by Connected by heART and comes in a sturdy designed box with ribbon. The accompanying book contains interpretations and background information for each artwork. The cards themselves are in English, and a QR code gives you access to the full Dutch texts.

What you see on the cards

The artworks vary widely in style and use of colour. Some are abstract, others figurative. The paintings have a soft, expressive quality with frequent use of pastel tones, pink, blue and ochre.

Each artwork carries one word: 'Trust', 'Flow', 'Release'. That singularity makes the deck open. You interpret for yourself how the word relates to the image and to your question.

The companion book offers a longer text for each card that explains the intention behind the artwork. These texts are reflective and personal in tone, written from the maker's perspective.

Who this deck is designed for

Nicolette van den Hadelkamp explicitly addresses women engaged in personal development. This is evident in the design, the language in the book and the recurring themes: inner strength, self-confidence, letting go.

The deck does not assume knowledge of tarot or traditional oracle systems. You work with it by drawing a card, looking at the artwork and letting the word sink in. The book is a supplement, not a requirement.

Are there only English words on the cards?
Yes. The cards themselves each contain one English word. The companion book is also in English, but via the QR code in the box you get access to all texts in Dutch.

Can I use this deck without experience with oracle cards?
Yes. The deck works intuitively: you look at the artwork, read the word and reflect. The book offers background if you need it, but it is not a requirement.
