Oilpainting Tarot

Klára Sedlo is a painter based in Prague, working at the intersection of surrealism and symbolism. Each card in this deck started as an actual oil painting on canvas, painted in a style referencing 17th-century Italian and French tarot but with entirely new figures and archetypes. The deck holds 28 cards instead of the classic 22, with titles like ‘Hen’, ‘Architect’ and ‘Shoe Quarrel’.

Czech painter Klára Sedlo based this oracle on the plant illustrations from the Voynich manuscript, a 15th-century document written in a script that has never been deciphered.
